Anjinkya Rahane was born on 6 June 1988, Ahemdnagar , India. Ajinkya Rahane was born to Madhukar Baburao Rahane and Sujata Rahane on 6th June 1988 in Ashwini village of Ahmednagar. He has a younger brother and sister – Shashank and Apurva.
Rahane did his schooling from SV Joshi High School in Dombivali, situated in the outskirts of Mumbai. He had an interest in cricket from a very young age and since the age of 17, he started coaching at a small club in Dombivali. After some years Ajinkya got the opportunity to train under former Indian batsman Pravin Amre.


Career
Ajinkya Rahane performed well when India U-19 toured New Zealand in early 2007, with two centuries. He impressed the selectors and they picked him for the Mohammad Nissar Trophy in Pakistan. Rahane made his first-class debut, at the age of 19, for Mumbai against Karachi Urban in the Mohammad Nissar Trophy in September 2007, at Karachi.
He made his Ranji Trophy debut for Mumbai in the 2007–08 season, making an impression for West Zone in the 2007–08 Duleep Trophy. He scored 172 against England Lions. With a contribution of 1089 runs in his second Ranji season, he was crucial in Mumbai’s 38th title win.
Rahane made his debut in Test cricket on 22 March 2013 against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi but he wasn’t able to score big runs. Despite his failure in the debut match, Rahane was included in the playing eleven for the first match of India’s tour of South Africa (2013–14).
He has been overlooked in the limited overs format by the Indian team. However, he was India’s first choice middle-order batsman for the ICC World Cup in 2015 held in Australia and New Zealand. His quickfire 79 against South Africa is etched in one’s memory. He was also a part of Indian team make it to the final of 2014 World T20.
Rahane is currently playing for chennai super king and has also played earlier for the Rising Pune Supergiants under MS Dhoni. He has played 126 games and scored 3427 runs at an average of 32.95 and a strike rate of 120.33. He has also hit a century along with 26 half centuries.

Captaining India
He was given the captaincy in the absence of the regular captains and won most of the matches as a captain. His record of scoring 02 centuries and 04 fifties in Australia against the Australian team shows his excellent batting skills in SENA. As a captain, his most successful stint came against Australia, winning all 04 matches he captained against Australia.
Rahane may have been a great contribution if he had been selected as a regular captain, but it was impossible due to his poor play and injury problems.
Ajinkaya Rahane led team India in 11 matches, winning 08 and losing 01 with a win percentage of 72. Only 02 matches ended in a draw. He led team India in all formats Test, ODI, and T20I, both home (India) and away (abroad).
T-20 captaincy:
In 2015, Team India played an away T20 International series in Zimbabwe, and Ajinkaya Rahane led this series. This series was of 02 matches that were drawn by 1-1. So, Ajinkaya Rhanae led India in only 02 T20I matches, winning 01 and losing 01 with a 50 percent win rate.
ODI captaincy:
In ODI cricket, Ajinkaya Rahane Captained Team India in Zimbabwe in three-match series. This series was played in 2015 in Zimbabwe when Rahane was given a chance of captaincy. He proved his captaincy skills by winning all three matches for India. Team India won the series with a clean sweep against Zimbabwe. As a captain, he performed really well with the bat to win the series.
Test captaincy
Ajinkaya Rahane led India in 06 test matches, winning 04 and losing 02 with a win percentage of 66. He led the Indian team against Afghanistan, Australia, and New Zealand.
Firstly, he was appointed as a Vice-Captain and later as a stand-by captain in the absence of a regular captain.
