Litton Das was born on 16 February 1994, Dinajpur, Bangladesh. His age is around 29 years (2023).

His parents and brothers live in Litton Das’s family. His father’s name is Bacchu Chandra Das and his mother’s name is Anita Das. He has two brothers whose names are not known.

On 28 July 2019, he married his long-time girlfriend Devashri Biswas Sonchita who is an agriculturist in Mirpur, Bangladesh.

Career

Das played for Bangladesh at the Under-19 World Cups in 2012 and 2014. Playing for Rangpur Division in the 2014–15 National Cricket league, he scored five centuries and finished the seven-match season with 1,024 runs at an average of 85.33. Rangpur Division won the championship.

Das made his Test debut against India on 10 June 2015.He made his one day international debut, also against India, on 18 June 2015. He made his T-20 debut against South Africa on 5 July 2015.

Vice-captaincy (2022)

In May 2022, after Bangladesh lost their 2-test match series against Sri Lanka by 1–0, the test captain Mominul Haque stepped down from the captaincy and on 2 June 2022, Shakib Al Hasan succeeded him while Das was made the Vice-captain of the test team.

Record

He is only Bangladeshi player who highest individual score in one day international against Zimbabwe which is 176.

Controversy

Litton Kumar Das received numerous hate messages on Facebook after he posted a photo of the Durga idol yesterday and greeted his Facebook fans on the occasion of Puja.

A Facebook user, Md Metun, attacked Litton for his religious beliefs, saying “I told you not to post such religious things”. Das later deleted the post and put up a new status expressing how disheartened he was with the hate remarks.

“My first identity is that I am a Bangladeshi, and religion cannot divide us”, he said in his updated Facebook comment.

John D Sana wrote, “Litton, majority of the people in Bangladesh is Muslim and praying to idols is forbidden in Islam. You have hurt the Muslims by posting a photo of Durga on your Facebook account. So think of yourself as a Bangladeshi and not as a Hindu”.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought Litton Das at his base price of INR 50 lakhs after he initially went unsold in the auction on Friday.
