Raza was born on 24 April 1986 ,Sialkot , Punjab ,Pakistan, Raza emigrated to Zimbabwe in 2002 along with his family. His age is 37 years old as of year 2023.
He soon became one of the best batsman in the domestic competition and caught the eye of the Zimbabwe selectors. The only problem was citizenship issues, which was granted in 2011.
His father, Tasadaq Hussian Raza and 2 uncles also played cricket and wanted to represent Pakistan; however, his father later ventured into motor parts business. He has a younger brother named Taymoor Raza Butt.
He studied at the Pakistan Air Force Public School Lower Topa for three years and aspired to be a Pakistan Air Force pilot, but his dreams were cut short when he failed a vision test that was mandatory for selection in the Pakistan airforce at that time.
He went to Scotland, where he pursued a bachelor’s degree in software engineering at the Glasgow Caledonian University.
Raza went on to play first-class cricket for the Mashonaland Eagles. He made his first-class debut on 12 April 2007 for Northerns against Easterns during the 2007 Logan Cup. He is a successful first-class cricketer, with a top score of 146.
Raza made his ODI debut for Zimbabwe in against Bangladesh and scored only three runs batting at number three thus becoming the 116th player to appear for Zimbabwe in the format. He also became the first non-residential player to represent Zimbabwe at international level.
Raza made his T20I debut on 5 November 2013 against Bangladesh. He is also the youngest person to hit a fifty in T20I. He achieved this feat when he was just above 17 years old.
He scored his maiden ODI century against Afghanistan in July 2014, while opening the batting helping Zimbabwe to register a convincing victory over Afghanistan by eight wickets.
Raza, made his Test debut in September 2013 against his home country – Pakistan in the first of a two-match series after Brendan Taylor decided to sit out. He performed well, hitting a fifty in the first innings but was omitted for the second game after Taylor came back into the squad.
