Dhoni is the only captain to have won all three major ICC trophies – World Cup, One-day Internationals World Cup and Champions Trophy. 


Prior to playing cricket full-time, the Mahi was a goalie for his high school football team and even tried his hand at badminton. 


Dhoni served as a Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) at the Kharagpur Railway Station in Midnapore for the South Eastern Railway from 2001 to 2003. 


M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, a biographical film based on Dhoni’s life, was released on September 30, 2016 starred by Sushant Singh Rajput. 


Dhoni retired after 16 years from the international stage. He scored more than 15,000 international runs -- including 4,876 runs in 90 Tests, 10,773 runs in 350 ODIs and 1,617 runs in 98 T20Is. 


During his early years of international cricket, he had long hair. He once stated that John Abraham was the inspiration for his haircut.

Dhoni wore jersey No 7 during his career. He has a special preference for the number 7 since his birthday falls on July 7. July too is the 7th month.


In the Indian Army, he has the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He is the second person to be honoured with the honorary title after Kapil Dev. 


Dhoni fell for a duck in his debut match for India -- an ODI against Bangladesh at Chattogram on December 23, 2004.
