Education

He completed his schooling at St. Columba’s School and he actively participated in his sports, academics and drama activities.

After completing his school, he did graduation with a bachelor’s degree in economics from Hans Raj College, University of Delhi, and began a master’s degree in mass communications, which Shah Rukh Khan later dropped out from academic studies to pursue a career in acting.

He also attended National School of Drama in Delhi during his early career in Bollywood.

Shah Rukh Khan career started from Delhi’s Theatre Action Group by theatre shows. He started his career by doing roles in the television shows but after the death of his mother he decided to move to Mumbai. Due to his performances in the television shows already put him in the limelight of the directors and producers.

The same year he signed four films, and started shooting for ‘Dil Aashna Hai’, which was the directorial debut of the Indian film actress Hema Malini. In the year 1992, his four films released in a row which are Deewana, Dil Aashna hai, Chmatkar and Raju Ban Gya Gentleman.

After playing the roles of hero in a few films, Khan apppeared into the role of an anti-hero. In 1993, he played the anti-hero in the movies ‘Darr’ and ‘Baazigar’ which became the blockbuster. Shah Rukh Khan famous dialogue in Baazigar movie is still popular among his fans, “Haar ke Jeetne wale ko Baazigar kahte hai”.

In 1993, his film ‘Maya Memsaab’, was released. The movie was surrounded with a lot of controversy due to a nude scene featuring Khan and actress Deepa Sahi. The following year, his films ‘Anjaam’ and ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ reached the audiences.

In 1995, the re-incarnation themed film of the actor, titled ‘Karan Arjun’ was released. In this film, which was directed by Rakesh Roshan, he shared screen space with another famous actor named Salman Khan which became the all time blockbuster.

He has starred in many blockbuster movies which added a feather to his crown. However, the biggest hit of Shah Rukh’s career was the film ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ (DDLJ). The movie is also considered to be one of the biggest blockbusters in the history of Indian cinema.

This film hit the theatres in the year 1995 and has created new records. This has completed 1000 weeks continuous showing in the year 2014 which is a record in itself.

Breakthrough

He got his first acting break with the 1988 television show ‘Dil Dariya’ which was the directorial venture of Lekh Tandon. This show’s launch was delayed due to a few production problems and was released eventually.
In 1989, another series named ‘Fauji’ which featured Shah Rukh was launched, which marked his debut in the world of television.

Deewana was his debut film in Bollywood which was starred late actress Divya Bharti and late Rishi Kapoor in main roles. His film ‘Deewana’ was released in the year 1992, and thus the actor’s Bollywood journey began.

Shahrukh Khan’s major source of income is from the movies and Endorsements. He is third richest actor in the world after Jerry Seinfeld and Tyler Perry in September 2022.

He has become the most successful Indian actor, owns his own production companies – Red Chillies Entertainment and Dreamz Unlimited.

IPL

SRK co-owns Indian Premier League (IPL) Cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders together with Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta. He also makes a good amount of money every year from the IPL.

Brand Ambassador

Shah Rukh Khan is the brand ambassador of almost 40 brands till now. Some of the top brands are Coca-Cola, Byju’s, Big Basket, Hyundai, Jio, Frooti, Dubai Tourism, Fair and Handsome, Denver, and much more.
He charges around 4 to 10 crores per brand for the endorsements.
